Redefining Success for Women Entrepreneurs: Stop Measuring by Hours Worked and Start Measuring Impact

Hustle Culture Isn’t a Flex

Tyler Denk, CEO of Beehive, said: “I’ll never bet on a founder who doesn’t work on the weekends.” Cool. F*ck you, Tyler.

Young tech bros keep flexing that they work Saturdays like it’s a badge of honor. But for many women entrepreneurs, especially those balancing businesses and families, that’s not the flex they think it is.

Work-Life Balance? Nah—Work-Life Priorities

There’s no such thing as work-life balance. You pick priorities daily—sometimes it’s business, sometimes it’s family, and most times, women come last.

I used to work weekends when I had to, but once my systems were in place, I made the choice to stop. That’s the real goal: choice.

Also, can we retire the phrase “Oh, your husband is babysitting?” No, b*tch. He’s parenting.

Women in Entrepreneurship: The Real Stats

  • Women-owned businesses generated $576.9 billion in additional revenue and outpaced male-owned ones by 1.8x (Wells Fargo, 2025)

  • Companies with female founders perform 63% better than all-male teams (First Round))

  • Women-founded startups return 78 cents per dollar invested, compared to men’s 31 cents (BCG)

  • 75% of VC firms still lack a single female investing partner (Harvard Kennedy School)

Despite the odds, women build the future anyway.

Ready for a Capital Call on your Time? 5 Questions To Ask Yourself

Rather than grinding every weekend, ask yourself:

  • Time Capital – Am I actually moving the needle or just staying busy?

  • Work-Life Integration – Am I structuring my work to thrive or copying someone else’s unsustainable grind?

  • Financial Capital – Am I undercharging, underfunded, or under-supported?

  • Support Capital – Am I building a strong network or doing it all alone?

  • Self-Advocacy – Am I confidently asking for what I need or overworking to prove my worth?

The Power of Your YES

Success isn’t about grinding through Saturdays—it’s about saying YES to what actually matters.

The most unstoppable founders? They work smart, with purpose, and don’t need anyone else’s playbook to do it.
